Tenka Musou Cup Summer 2014: Koihime Enbu
Tenka Musou Cup Summer 2014: Koihime Enbu was held on August 16 at Tokyo Leisure Land Akihabara game center. This's the tournament where top Koihime fighting game players from around the country compete.
Tenka Musou Cup is the name of the team tournament that was first held at the same place in 2012, for the first game–Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi. The game was later ported to PC and PS3. The sequel, Koihime Enbu, was released on July 17 in the arcades.
Koihime Enbu was used for the first time in this 5th Tenka Musou Cup 3 on 3.
These match videos are from the official stream here. (Audio sync problem is from source) Brackets are here and here.
3rd place
Final
As you can see, this game is footsie-based, Samurai Shodown style. You can do long combos only after a counterhit by the move called Hougeki (It's SF4's Focus Attack minus Armor and Dash Cancel). There's no comeback mechanics.

Koihime Enbu releasing July 17
It's so sudden but it's good. It's announced today that Koihime Enbu will be released in the Japanese arcades on July 17.
Koihime Enbu is the sequel of Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi (arcades, PC, PS3). (They make the name shorter probably to avoid confusion.) There're 3 new characters: Sui, Nagi, and Minmei.
This's a game that Beast Note recommends. It's footsie-based Samurai Shodown style. You can do long combos only after a counterhit by the move called Hougeki (It's SF4's Focus Attack minus Armor and Dash Cancel). There's no comeback mechanics.

Koihime Enbu site updated with screenshots and voices
The official site of Koihime Enbu has been updated with screenshots and character voices.
It looks like there's no big change to the system (little tweak to HUD). However, the character sprites (already look impressive in the first game) are significantly improved. It's sharper and smoother.
Koihime Enbu is the sequel of Shin Koihime Musou Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi. There're 3 new characters: Sui, Nagi, ans Minmei.

Koihime Boom
When Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi was announced for PS3, we thought it'd be sent to die. But we're happy we were wrong, as the game received a warm welcome from GODSGARDEN and the fans.
As of now, Kazunoko, KSK, Kami-chan, Naruo, Pekos (the Tekken player), Ren (BlazBlue player), Machabo (the Fei Long and Guilty Gear player) all play Koihime Musou. It also marks the first time these players all play the same game.
GODSGARDEN already streamed 40 hours of Koihime Musou since launch on February 20.
While cute characters is important factor, that's not all of it. The game is fairly simple to get into and watch. No gimmick. A lot of ground game. No comeback mechanics. No out-of-place character to create bad matchup. Long combos only start with Hougeki. It's Samurai Spirits with Focus Attack (called Hougeki in this game) without fancy systems. (We actually have how to play here.)
For those outside Japan who want to try, the download version of the game is available on PSN for 5,800 yen. A sequel of the game will come out some time this year for the arcades.

The installation
You don't actually need Japanese version of Windows, just change locale to Japanese so your PC can read everything. Unzip the file you download then click setup.exe. You only click N (Next) or F (Finish) during the installation. The desktop shortcut will pop up, click it to start the game.
Game Modes
In VS Mode, you can choose to play against CPU or watch CPU fight CPU. Either ways, you can only choose one character (Aisha) and two strategists (Shuri and Hinari). There're 8 difficulties for the CPU to choose from. You can change round count and time limit here.
In System Config, you can switch between Fullscreen/Windows. You can change resolution (max only 1280x720) or brightness. You can turn on/off bilinear filtering and stage effects. You can choose which player use which controller or keyboard.
Controller Setting
You can do button mapping here.

B = Medium Attack
C = Strong Attack

A+B = For EX version of special moves
B+C = For Musou Hiougi move
Taunt = Taunt

Gameplay
This game is close to Street Fighter IV. It's about footsie and "Hougeki." Hougeki works similar to SF4's Focus Attack. It doesn't absorb an attack like Focus Attack but it makes opponent "Crumble" on counter-hit (connect when opponent is in attacking animation). Each character in the game has 4 moves that have Hougeki property. These moves work just like normal moves so they're pretty safe when not overused.
3B = Overhead
6B = Launcher
3C = Sweep
6C = Long strike
When opponent is in Crumble state, you can do whatever you want until he hits the ground. The combo you do during this period is called Musou Rengeki.
Ultimate moves
Each character has 2 ultimate moves which share the same commands in all characters.
1. Musou Ougi (2363214+C) requires 3 bars.
2. Musou Hiougi (236+BC) requires all 4 bars, and can be performed only when opponent is in Crumble state or as a part of Musou Rengeki.
Strategist
You choose Strategist during character select. But some strategists are available only to certain characters (just like in the story). For example, Keifa only goes with Karin group.
A strategist can provide you an assist (236+D) at a cost of 1 bar.
The full game has 10 playable characters, 6 "strategists," and 10 stages. (See screenshots and stages here)
