Umehara reaches 270,000 BP in AE

The Tougeki qualifiers on Saturday reminds me to update his stats.

After those tournaments abroad and the release of the console version, his pace dropped from 40,000 BP per month to 35,000 BP per month. Not bad at all.

Kao TV 2011.07.01

- Around 3,400 viewers peak
- Hosts: KSK and Ren (a BlazBlue player, a regular in Ura Kao TV)
- Guest: Kazunoko! (or Inoue in Guilty Gear/BlazBlue) The Yun player who is No. 2 on Japan's arcade BP ranking. First appearance on the stream!
- Ren proved to be a good assistant, he's a good talker and knows what and when to talk. This helps KSK to stay on topics. They focussed more on the guest and the viewers, and they talked more about games.
- Watch here.

Kazunoko summary
- He played under one of KSK's tags, starting at  2416 PP/1871 BP.
- He used the famous "Umehara Mochi" (Umehara Grip)
- He doesn't play on the consoles.
- He thinks Guile and Adon are good against Yun.
- About matches against Umehara: "I lost more than I won."
- "If you don't use Yun/Yang/Fei Long, there's probably not much you can do."
- About Yun's Genei Jin Palm Strike loop: "Since Umehara-san doesn't do it, I don't do it."
- There're well-known players named "Inoue" in Capcom's games already, so he used "Kazunoko" as alias in SF4 instead. The reason is a secret. Though he feels embarassed and wants to change.
- He is intimidated by Umehara and Tokido, so he doesn't talk to them much at the game center. Someone joked that since he talks to KSK like normal so maybe he thinks KSK is an underling! (Then everyone laughed.)
- He doesn't play BlazBlue anymore.
- His buddy (player): Nekojita and Reiketsu
- Using the same character (Yun) with Umehara: He doesn't feel competing, since he thinks Umehara is in another level.
- On Mago's Fei Long: "I lost more than I won."
- He's being too modest, so KSK joked that it's like he's faking it. (LOL)
- He encountered Ryukichi, a well-known grade 9 (junior high school) Fei Long player. After winning 5 times, KSK told him to go to sleep knowing he won't go until he won.
- They made fun of his reaction after losing to a Ken. KSK joked that he snapped and tried to punch the screen.
- Will you go to Evo?: "No" He's not confident.
- If there's an invitation from abroad and it's all free: "Then I'll be happy."
- When he stopped, he had 4576 PP/4357 BP and is world's 8th. The show is 2 hours 40 minutes, and he lost only 3 times.

Daigo Umehara is a Warrior

It's reported today that there's a big change in ranking system of SSF4AE game center edition about classes. "Ultimate Master" is not unique and the highest class anymore. Furtheremore, the Grand Masters from around 2nd to 50th are now called Ultimate Master! Daigo Umehara, who is still No. 1 and was the only Ultimate Master, is now in the new class called "Warrior."

(Ultimate Master used to be the class for the Grand Master who has the most BP in Japan.)

Kao TV 2011.01.14

- Watch the first part here. Second part here (paid membership required)
- Ustream began maintenance half-way so they moved to Nico.
- The show was 3 hours 40 minutes long.
- It seems like the last rank above Grand Master is Ultimate Master. There can be only one Ultimate Master, it's the Grand Master who has the highest BP in Japan.

Rare footage of Ume Yun

If this's not the first (clear) footage of Daigo Umehara's Yun then it's definitely one of the first.

- He got 45,000 BP in less than a month, after the release of SSF4AE.
- He's No.1 in Japan. (He has the most BP in the country.)
- His in-game name "Umehara" is now written in Hiragana, not Katakana like usual. I guess someone took it before him.
- Cabinet on the right, Fei-Long user is Mizoteru. (a famous Blanka user)

Thing I want to add is Umehara usually plays at Safari game center. This place is popular among top players especially those who live in Tokyo. The other top players who frequent there are Mago, Tokido, Nemo, etc. Players who play in the same game center will be linked so these top players fight each other several times everyday. (So don't get too excited on the results.) Note that this place charges you 50 yen per credit which is considered cheap. Normally they charge you elsewhere 100 yen per credit.
