Umehara: Fighting Gamers PV posted
A promotion video of Daigo Umehara's "Umehara: Fighting Gamers" manga volume 1 is posted today.

Daigo Umehara in new manga about pro gamer's life
Tip from Mad Catz Japan. New manga about the life of pro gamers "Totsugeki! Tonari no Pro Gamer" will be released on December 17.
The cover has what appear to be Daigo Umehara, Tokido, Mago with their commendations. The manga seems to focus on the pro fighting gamers.

Umehara in Brothers Conflict Purupuru Pururu
This manga page featuring Daigo Umehara from a "4-panel" manga called Brothers Conflict Purupuru Pururu (drawn by female artist) was tweeted several days ago.
Apparently it's a spinoff of Brothers Conflict, a novel for female audience that was made into an anime last year.
Note that this's the first time in a long while for an unofficial manga that Umehara isn't turn into a girl....

Umehara: Fighting Gamers! Vol.1 to be released on December 26
It's announced tonight that "Umehara: Fighting Gamers!" manga hard copy version will be published by Kadokawa and volume 1 will be released on December 26.

Nico to stream Umehara vs. Tokido talk show
It's revealed today that Niconico will be streaming Daigo Umehara vs. Tokido talk show on August 16, starting 20:00 JST.
Umehara will come to talk about his manga serialization on Weekly Georgia while Tokido will talk about his book that was released last month.

Umehara: Fighting Gamers manga announced
It's announced today that a new manga based on Daigo Umehara's life will be serialized on Shuukan Georgia (Weekly Georgia), starting from July 26. The manga is drawn by Kengoro Nishide from Umehara: To Live Is To Game.
Shuukan Georgia is a weekly magazine for men on smartphones. It has manga, female models, and articles you expect from men's magazines. By installing the free app, you can read it for free. The smartphone magazine is a collaboration between Georgia coffee and Japan's publishing giant Kadokawa.
It's also revealed that Umehara will come to promote the manga on KokuNuki Oukoku show (Kokujin and Nuki PPV show) on July 25, and TOPANGA TV on July 30.

Daigo Umehara's semi-autobiography "Willpower to Keep Winning" is revealed to be one of the bestselling pocketbook of 2013 by Amazon Japan's bestsellers rankings.

Umehara coming to R's Room December 26
It's revealed that Daigo Umehara and Rensuke Oshikiri will appear as guests in next R's Room on December 26.
Rensuke Oshikiri is the manga artist of High Score Girl – a love comedy of young fighting gamers in 90s. His name is actually on the book banding paper of Umehara: To Live is to Game as a person who recommends the manga.

- Umehara came to promote his manga "Umehara: To Live is to game" and his new T-shirt.
- Umehara joked that if the manga gets a sequel then there will probably be a chapter dedicated to Bon-chan.
- When asked to talk about upcoming exhibition match against Infiltration, Umehara joked that the Korean viewers who know Japanese language probably send the tip to Infiltration so he didn't want to talk.
- Umehara said that you will see something new from him (in vs. Infiltration exhibition). However, he couldn't say with confidence that he'll win.

- The interviewer was Niconico's "Management No.3" (show producer) who was a fighting gamer and is around Umehara's age so there's a lot of in depth discussion about Street Fighter II.
- This manga project started one year ago.
- Umehara practiced how to punish Guile's crMK with Ryu's sweep using (Street Fighter II) Turbo 10 mode for 5 hours. There was no training mode dummy that time so he asked his friend to do it (Super Famicom).
- They looked at old issues of arcade gaming magazine Gamest (the magazine is long gone and the staff went to do Arcadia). Umehara pointed out that Guile vs. Zangief is 9:1 in SF2 Dash. (Ryu vs. Guile is 4:6.)

New Umehara manga title and cover revealed
Tip from Mad Catz Japan. The title and the cover of the new manga about Daigo Umehara's junior high school life are now revealed. The title is "Umehara: To Live is to Game." The cover says the manga is supervised by Umehara himself.
The manga is now open for preorder at Amazon Japan for 1,000 yen. The release date is September 12.

Umehara's junior high school life gets manga, to be shown on Nico
It was revealed during the last day of Evolution 2013 that Daigo Umehara is having a manga about his junior high school life. There's still no information about the manga artist, but PHP Institute will publish it.
The news from yesterday also revealed that Niconico will stream a talk show about the subject on July 28. Umehara himself will come to talk about it and the first chapter of the manga will be shown live.
Umehara already had a manga about himself once called Umehara's Mahjong but it was an adaptation and was a short story in a monthly manga magazine.
Umehara also appeared in With Ume-chan! and Kakugeibu! as a female character.

Kakugeibu! vol.1 releasing today (Umehara, Tokido, Mago are junior highschool girls!)
Tip from Akiki-san (Sako's wife). The first volume of Kakugeibu!, the manga that has Daigo Umehara, Tokido, and Mago turn into a small girl is being released today in Japan.
Kakugeibu! (Kaku Game Bukatsu! or KGB or Fighting Game Club!) is the story about junior highschool girls in Kakugeibu (Fighting Art Club, same sound but different meaning), a school club of fighting games. As seen below, these characters are based on real players.
Kakugeibu! is a "yonkoma" (4-panel comic) that was first serialized in Arcadia Magazine since last year. Many of yonkoma were later turn into anime and became a hit (like Lucky Star and K-ON!), will this one make it?!

Mago turn into girl in adult manga
Do you remember that adult manga that has Daigo Umehara turn into a girl? The manga artist did the same thing with Mago in her new work.
This news is actually five month old and we thought that you probably don't want to see it (or do you?), but to celebrate his victory at England qualifying tournaments of Capcom's Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournaments Grand Finals, we think it's the right timing!
"Hiyoranaide! Mako-chan" (Do something! Mako-chan) in the August issue of adult manga magazine Potpourri Club tells the story about a female fighting gamer "Mako Hayashi" who struggles to win a tournament and later has to resort to some "special training" with her friend.
The story clearly makes fun of how Mago has less achievements than fellow top players.
Brief summary of the story
- Mako-chan is a tsundere.
- Mako-chan's surname Hayashi is actually Mago's real surname.
- Mako-chan is irritated by Ume Hara's success. *The protagonist in the first work.
- Ume Hara is 2-time "GAMEVO" world champion.
- Mago's famous line "I'm going to teach you the reality!" is in there. (It was said to Fuudo before the TOPANGA Concept Match.)
- Her (male) game partner since the olden days "Ichirou" looks like Tokido. The two share the same first letter in real name.
- In one scene, Ichirou wears a T-shirt that resembles Tokido'd blue Mad Catz T-shirt. The number "13" on the shirt could refer to Tokido's signature finishing move in UMvC3 called "Dark 13."
- In one scene, Ichirou wears a T-shirt with number "10" in the back. Ten in Japanese language can mean heaven. It refers to the sign in Akuma's back.
- She looks strong and confident, but she doesn't do well in tournaments. Ichirou then offers Mako-chan a special training.

Umehara on latest Kindai Mahjong Original cover
Amazon Japan has revealed the cover of the next issue of Kindai Mahjong Original today. The magazine will have the debut of Umehara's Mahjong manga as already reported.
Daigo Umehara, in manga character form, is also on the cover.
People outside Japan can also buy this magazine but the shipping (3,000 yen) is 6 times the price of the magazine itself for North America.

Umehara gets his own mahjong manga
Daigo Umehara is turn into a manga (Japanese comic) story again! But this time it is HIS story!
The preview of the next issue of Kindai Mahjong Original that will be released next month on November 8 shows that it will feature "Umehara's Mahjong" story.
Umehara has turn to mahjong when he quitted fighting gamed half a decade ago. He then return with the release of Street Fighter IV in 2008 and recently said he will not return to the mahjong world. However, this manga seems to be an adaptation rather than biography.
From the preview, it acknowledges Umehara as the world's number one pro gamer and teases "What it takes for the man who keeps winning at fighting games to be able to keep winning at mahjong?" ("Keep Winning" has become a catchphrase after his book "Willpower to Keep Winning.") It also shows him drawing a mahjong tile in Mad Catz T-shirt.
The manga is drawn by Michiaki Kiyama.
Kindai Mahjong Original is a monthly manga magazine exclusively for mahjong stories. It is a spinoff of Kindai Mahjong (semimonthly) that has famous manga Akagi (that was later turn into anime).
Although this is the first time Umehara has his own manga about himself, he was already in manga in some form or another. His legendary Evo 2004 moment was in an anime. He also linked Mad Catz product to anime as well.
